Green Building and Façade Systems

“A green building increases the efficiency of how a building uses water, energy and materials while reducing building impacts on human health and the environment. Therefore, a green building has a limited carbon footprint.”

In line with Dubai Strategic Plan, and after the Green initiative and the directions and recommendations of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, Green Building standards have been in place since early 2009. Dubai Municipality has developed a new legislative framework for green design to be implemented in all new construction across the Emirate of Dubai. Other emirates have also started taking similar initiatives to develop regulations and meet international designs and construction practices.

PAC Technologies is constantly developing and introducing construction products that if used properly, can enhance the efficiency of one of the key factors affecting the carbon footprint of a building:

Mainly, we are active in three areas:

1. Façade Systems:
Polycarbonate panels, used as façades and cladding systems, when compared to glass, can significantly reduce the U value (the rate of heat transmission) down to 0.83 from 1.7 W/m2 for glass. This material is fully recyclable, and the energy transformation in processing the material is much lower than that for glass. Therefore, polycarbonate has an overall lower carbon foot print, making it a Green Building System of excellence.

2. Plasters And Mortars:
Specially formulated plasters, mortars and façades systems are being promoted to reduce energy consumption inside the buildings. These special mortars can help preserve the energy consumed inside our houses, by insulating the outer surfaces, thus reducing energy consumed to acclimatize our homes. Mortars with latest German technologies can reduce the U value to as low as 0.25 W/m2. Please contact us if you wish to know more.
